Adult Tennis Leagues – USTA & HCATL

Posted by December 31, 2014 Uncategorized No Comments

RJ TENNIS participates in two adult tennis leagues:  www.usta.com and www.homecourttennis.com.

Ingrid Clark is the Founder and Director of the Home Court Adult Tennis League, HCATL.  She contracts with local indoor tennis facilities throughout northern Virginia:  http://homecourttennis.com/facilities.html where she runs a World Team Tennis League, Men’s Doubles League and a Women’s Doubles League.  The HCATL is not affiliated with the USTA in any way.

There are different league directors for the various USTA divisions that are offered.

As the Director of Adult Tennis at The Four Seasons Tennis Club, I work to bring tennis players together to field both men’s and women’s teams in both the USTA and HCATL leagues.

There are fees associated with participating in the leagues:

  • There is a $6 league/team registration fee for the HCATL: http://www.virginiatennis.com/home-court-fall-league/
  • There is a $27.50 league fee for each USTA team you participate on throughout the year.
  • There is a $15 per person per match played fee for each HCATL match.  There is a $15 to $18 match fee for each USTA match played.
    • If you commit to playing in a match and then cancel your participation for any reason and you or the team captain are no able to find a sub to fill in for you, you are responsible to pay the $60+ match default fee.  When defaulting a match, please make your check payable to HCATL and or to the USTA director.
  • For each home match, each home team playing in the match is to bring a new can of tennis balls.
  • RJ TENNIS, does not make any money from participating in the HCATL and or USTA leagues.

Players often ask when and where the matches are played.  If the schedules haven’t been posted by the league directors, then I can’t possibly answer that question.  Below are the links to the 2015 Winter HCATL and USTA Schedules that we participated in.  This will give you an idea of when and where the matches will be played.

To register for the HCATL team, please go to the topdogtennis website at:  http://www.topdogtennis.com/pages/club_information.asp?orgid=947 and register for the RJ TENNIS BOOT CAMP teams and enter your availability for the entire season.  The Virginia Tennis website is user friendly and allows for great communication with the team.  I, or the team captain, will be sending out the team line ups for the matches from this website.  Once you start receiving those e-mails and you see that you’re in the line up, please hit the confirmation button.

If your schedule changes at any time throughout the season, please go into the website and adjust your availability.  If I see that you’re available to play, there is no reason for me to think that you’re no longer available unless you make the change on the top dog tennis website.  Also, once you have confirmed that you’re available to play in a match and your schedule changes, it will be up to you to find a sub to cover your place or you will be financially responsible for the $60 default fee payable to HCATL.

When the matches are played at The Four Seasons Tennis Club, each team’s line up will be four doubles lines.  When the matches are played at any other indoor facility, there will be three doubles lines.

The HCATL league is the only league where you can play on as many different teams as you would like.  You may have a base team that is your home team, and then you can play on other teams that may be short players for particular matches.

To register for a USTA team:  https://tennislink.usta.com/leagues/TLRegistration/Registration.aspx

You will have to have the team code to register for the team.  If you don’t have a USTA computer rating, please talk with me before attempting to self-rate.  Answering, “Yes,” to any of the USTA questions could possibly get you a 5.0 rating and it may take three years to fix the problem.

Once the schedules get sent out, I will forward them to you and you will let me know what your availability is.

If possible,  I would like the players on my teams to play within their level of play.  If you’re playing up and you’re not bringing any competition to the opposing teams, then it’s not right that you continue to play in the higher division.  Please don’t ask to be placed with a stronger partner.  Each player is responsible to bring the same fight to the game.

This is all of the information I have at this time.

Thank you,

Rob
