W.T.Woodson Diver – Conor Casey

I am humbled and honored to share with you that W.T. Woodson Diver Conor Casey, a rising senior, was just named the #1 All American High School Diver in the country and was awarded the distinction of being called National Champion.  It has been a great joy working with and coaching Conor and all of his teammates at Woodson High School this past year.

The W.T. Woodson boy’s dive team has had a long history of excellence for the last 12 years.  I have worked to build a dive program that allows for athletes to explore the depths of their potential and work as hard as they’re willing to work to achieve the highest levels of excellence.  The results over the last 12 years has been such that almost every single one of my boy divers who have competed in the end of the season championship dive meets have qualified for or have received All American Honors.  The boy’s team have won the Northern Region and Virginia High School State Team Championships eight times over the last 12 years.

Although the WTW boy’s dive team has been one of the top high school boy’s dive teams in the country, there has never been one moment where we have kicked back and have said that we have achieved all that we can achieve.  As the coach, I am always trying to challenge, motivate and inspire each of the divers to stretch their imaginations on how great they can become.  As good as Conor Casey is today, his mindset is to become the best diver in the world.  And I believe he will be.  He has it within him to take the sport of diving to a level others only dream of doing.  When in his presence and watching him dive, one can’t help but to be inspired by his humility and commitment to the pursuit of excellence.
